CONVEYOR COVERS

Simar-Dacon Hoods

Simar-Dacon hoods for belt conveyors are recognized worldwide for their unique system and their exceptionnal quality.  Having numerous applications, they can be used to cover conveyor belts or a hopper.  It is also possible to design and build bigger types of hoods to cover walkways and entire conveyors.

Cusomization

Custom made, our conveyor hoods can be adapted to all needs.  Thus, it is possible to :

  • Give them an irregular convex or concave shape;

  • Extend them to protect the return belt;

  • To drill a hole in them to place a lubrication point;

  • To drill a hole in them to insert an emergency switch or a nozzle;

  • To add them a base plate for side mounting.

Our unique and special design is engineered to shed water efficiently, giving you years of rust-free service.  Simar-Dacon hoods can be fabricated from various material and gauges, such as :

- galvanized steel G-90 (22 ga; 20 ga; 18 ga.);
- aluminium - 3003 utility duty (16 ga.);

- aluminium - 5052-H32 marine duty (16 ga.);

- stainless steel SS304 or SS316 (20 ga; 22 ga.).

3 Styles Available
  • FULL HOOD : Closed on 180 degrees, this type of hood protects the employees by providing a maximum of safety against moving parts and mechanical hazards. It extends the wear life of your covered components, such as idlers and belt, by protecting them from the rain, the snow and the sun.  This hood type is both efficient and environmentally friendly, supressing dust and reducing material lost due to high winds.

  • 3/4 HOOD : This type is similar to the full hood, except that it has an open side at a 45 degree angle at all times, making the belt contents more accessible and easier to inspect.

  • PARTIAL HOOD : This type of hood is similar to the 3/4 hood, except that its 2 sides consistently have openings at an angle of 45 degrees, further facilitating access to the belt of the conveyor.

Easy Access to the Conveyor

All our models allow a very easy belt and idler maintenance. It is simply a matter of unscrewing the butterfly nuts on the opening side two eye bolts and then lifting the hood and securing it with the retaining brackets.

Optional : Windshield Attachement

Suggested for large lids to prevent wind from tipping the sheet on the opposite side when opening, avoiding damage and reducing the chances of injury.  It also eliminates the need for awkward bulky chains.

Optional : Rubber Quick Release Handles

Allows lids to be opened more quickly and easily. These handles are also used in harsh and abrasive environments, where the bolt threads tend to become clogged, which may impede the lids from opening.

Optional: Side panels and openings in hoods

Custom openings can be drilled in the conveyor hoods according to your needs and specifications.

In addition, side panels can be installed on the sides of the structure to protect the return belt from the adverse effects of the wind.  Panels are made from 20 ga. G-90 galvanized steel. Manufactured in a maximum length of 144" , the 16" high panels overlap to create a waterproof, durable and efficient seal between them. 3/8" U-bolts are also available as an option to keep the panels in place.

Optional : Folded Base Plates

Folded base plates, used to secure hoods in restricted areas. They can be designed and manufactured according to your needs.

Optional : Closing Plate

Plate that can be bolted to the hoods to close the 3" opening at the base of the lids on each side of the conveyor.
